FROM BROOKLYN TO HILTON
Barry Manilow, who headlines at the Las Vegas Hilton December 28-29, taped his latest TV special/DVD at his old Brooklyn stomping grounds. BARRY MANILOW: SONGS FROM THE SEVENTIES was taped September 2007 at the old Navy Yard in Brooklyn, “right down the block from where I grew up in Williamsburg,” as Manilow explained onstage to the audience. The special premiered on PBS stations across the nation in early December.

LET’S PAUSE FOR MENOPAUSE AND SALUTE FOR A THOUSAND
Four years, forty cities and six countries after its world premiere, Menopause The Musical® celebrated its international success with the debut of its Las Vegas cast production at the Las Vegas Hilton on February 1, 2006. It became an immediate hit and on January 13 at 7 pm celebrates its 1000th show.

IS JAIME FARR FAR BEHIND?
Jamie Farr, who shares hosting duties with Bob Eubanks and Chuck Woolery in “The $250,000 Game Show Spectacular” at the Las Vegas Hilton, last hosted December 1. Jamie is catching up with the other legendary hosts when he returns December, 26, 28, and 29. The show features some of America's most recognizable game shows together for the first time. At each show, an audience member has the chance to win $250,000. If that person wins $250,000, every audience member who has a valid ticket for that show will also win $100. Showtimes are Monday – Saturday 1:30 p.m. or 3:30 p.m. in the Hilton Theater.

BEAM ME UP (FOR FREE), SCOTTY
Star Trek: The Experience is celebrating its tenth anniversary at the Las Vegas Hilton on January 4, 2008, with complimentary admission for locals (must be 42” tall with valid Nevada I.D.) that day. Non-Nevada guests receive 10% off the admission price. The original $70 million 65,000 square foot complex featured the Klingon Encounter attraction and, along with the Deep Space Nine Promenade and Quark’s Bar and Restaurant, was an immediate hit. New additions, the multi-million dollar Borg Invasion 4-D and the Secrets Unveiled Backstage Tour, have added to the popularity of this iconic attraction.

GRAPHIC WINE?
“Fetish Playmates,” sold at Fortuna, a coffee and wine experience at the Las Vegas Hilton, is a 2005 blend of Shiraz, Grenache, and Mourvedre. It features a dark ruby/purple hue along with oaky aromas intermixed with notions of blackberries, cherries, and licorice. Wine expert Robert Parker rates it 90-92 points.

BREWING MUSIC AT THE HILTON
Putumayo World Music CDs, including such interesting titles as “Women of the World, Acoustic,” “Tango,” and “Music from the Wine Lands,” are now sold at Fortuna, a coffee and wine experience at the Las Vegas Hilton. Putumayo World Music was established in 1993 to introduce people to the music of the world's cultures. The label grew out of Putumayo clothing company, founded by Dan Storper in 1975 and sold in 1997. Co-founder Michael Kraus joined Dan to launch Putumayo World Music and establish a non-traditional sales division.

TIME TO GO “BOWLING”
As we celebrate the holiday season, many college football players are ready to go “bowling.” As the holidays bring us traditions of gift exchanging and eggnog, this time of year also brings us some great college football games. This year is no different, says Jay Kornegay, executive director of the Las Vegas Hilton SuperBook. The first of 32 bowl games starts this week and the SuperBook has all the odds, first and second halves, and props on the top BCS games available for all football fans.
