CHINESE NEW YEAR CELEBRATED AT HILTON
“Chinese New Year Spectacular,” a world-class production by Divine Performing Arts, will be presented at the Las Vegas Hilton, January 21. The production presents the essence of traditional, presented through classic Chinese dance and music (in both English and Chinese). This production will be touring more than 70 major cities across four continents throughout 2008.

YOU’VE GOT TO HAVE HEART
VH1 named Heart as a recipient of the 2007 Rock Honors awards and Ann Wilson released her first ever solo album, Hope & Glory, featuring guest appearances by Elton John, Alison Krauss, Nancy Wilson, k d lang, Wynona, Gretchen Wilson, Rufus Wainwright, Shawn Colvin, and Deana Carter. Kick boxing fans will get a kick out of World Championship MuayThaI ((Thai boxing) at the Las Vegas Hilton on Saturday, January 12. Some of the featured bouts: Shane “Rocky” Del Rosario vs Guinty Vrede; Jared Lara vs Val Leedy; and Malaipet Team Diamond vs. Jiangtao Dong.

New Year’s Eve is always big in Las Vegas. Griffin, and Hal Singer and the RPM band join Ira on this Monday’s “Lunchtime With Ira, Live from the Las Vegas Hilton.” The show can be seen on Clark County Television (CCTV), Cox cable channel 4 on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at Noon and 8 p.m., heard on NEWS/TALK 720 KDWN (Saturdays at 9 p.m.), and is available 24/7 at www.lvhilton.com. The show, produced live every Monday at Noon, features host Ira David Sternberg talking with the celebrities, entertainers, writers, personalities and community leaders who make Las Vegas the most exciting city in the world.

LAUGHING INTO 08
Comedian George Lopez, whose CD, “Team Leader,” (Oglio Records/Warner Brothers) was nominated for a 2004 Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album and whose autobiography “Why You Crying?” was in the New York Times Bestsellers top 20, returns to headline at the Las Hilton February 29 and March 1. GOING TO BAT IN DECEMBER
This time of year is usually reserved for football but the Las Vegas Hilton SuperBook decided to throw a curve ball. This past week, the SuperBook posted odds on the 2008 home run title. “It’s never too early to get a jump on things,” Executive Director Jay Kornegay said. Again, the favorite is Yankee Alex Rodriguez at 5-1. Some of the other contenders include: Ryan Howard 5-1, Prince Fielder 5-1, Albert Pujols 10-1, Andruw Jones 50-1, and Vladimir Guererro 50-1.
