The temperatures are starting to cool down and slabs of fresh ice are starting to be laid around arenas across North America. The hockey season starts October 3 and the Las Vegas Hilton SuperBook has already dropped the puck by posting over/under regular season points scored by each team. This is a wager fans may enjoy the entire season. Once again, the Ducks of Anaheim are leading the way. The Ducks have the highest predicted point total of all teams at 106 ˝. Other contenders include; Detroit at 105 ˝, Pittsburgh 105 ˝, San Jose and NY Rangers both coming in at 103 ˝.

Entertainer Terry Fator, who gained national popularity when he recently won NBC-TV’s “America’s Got Talent” show and then announced he was headlining at the Las Vegas Hilton on October 14, sold out that show, and added another performance on October 15. That one’s selling out, which leads to the rumor of the day: Will there be another Fator show, possibly in December?
Answer: All four (Joe and Frank, sister Chrissi and “Irish Scinta” Peter O’Donnell) if it’s in the Shimmer Cabaret at the Las Vegas Hilton. Their new show, “Laugh Out Loud with The Scintas,” opened at the resort September 24. The Scintas’ act took shape in a bar owned by former Buffalo Bill and present ESPN color commentator Paul McGuire. Frank and Joe began playing there singing songs and adding a joke or two. Soon the lines were out the door and they realized they were on to something. They brought sister Chrissi in on weekends to sing with them. The rest, as is said, is history.
Here’s a quote from the BBC’s Michael Quinn on Barry Manilow’s new album, The Greatest Songs of the Seventies: “This is an impeccably delivered package (by far the most successful of the series), with Manilow always respectful of the original material, the new arrangements unfailingly elegant and smoothly executed. So you’ll find a bombast-free ‘The Way We Were,’ a nocturne-like ‘Solitaire’ full of brittle beauty, a diaphanous rendition of ‘If’ and a perfectly proportioned ‘Long And Winding Road’ infused with aching yearning.” Barry Manilow, resident headliner at the Las Vegas Hilton, performs September 25-29, October 3-6, 16-20, and 24-27.
