George Lopez is one of the premier Latino American comedic talents in the entertainment industry today. He is the co-creator, writer, producer and star of the ABC network and Warner Bros. Television produced sitcom, “George Lopez.”
Lopez grew up in the San Fernando Valley near Los Angeles, California. He became a popular stand-up comedian, especially among the Latino community for his satirizing of Latin-American life and culture in the United States. Much of his humor was drawn from the financial poverty of his upbringing and of the Latino community in general.
In September 2004, George was honored with the “Spirit of Liberty Award” presented by People for the American Way. In August 2005, Time Magazine recognized George as one of “The 25 Most Influential Hispanics In America.”
George’s celebrity continues to grow. He made his debut in the Harris Poll for Favorite TV Personalities. George is one of the top ten favorite TV personalities of 2005. On March 29, 2006 the Hollywood Walk of Fame presented George his own star on legendary Hollywood Boulevard.
